CUPIA Achieves ISO/IEC 27001 Certification, Reinforcing Trust in Digital Customs Cooperation

Seoul, December 18, 2025 —
The Customs UNI-PASS International Agency (CUPIA) announced that it has officially obtained ISO/IEC 27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems.

ISO/IEC 27001 is a globally recognized standard that rigorously evaluates the establishment and operation of information security management systems, covering areas such as data protection, system integrity, risk management, and business continuity. Through this certification, CUPIA has been formally recognized for operating a structured and internationally compliant information security framework.

Founded as a non-profit foundation rooted in the Korea Customs Service (KCS), CUPIA has supported customs modernization, single window development, and digital trade facilitation projects worldwide through UNI-PASS and e-PASS platforms. As a public-sector–oriented institution implementing ODA- and government-led projects, CUPIA views information security as a fundamental requirement for public trust and long-term system sustainability.

A CUPIA representative stated, “The ISO/IEC 27001 certification marks an important milestone in strengthening the confidence of our partner governments and international organizations. Beyond delivering advanced digital systems, CUPIA is committed to safeguarding public data and administrative information as a responsible and trusted partner.”

With this certification, CUPIA has further enhanced its capacity to meet international information security and compliance requirements for Customs and Domestic Tax Management System development projects. Moving forward, CUPIA plans to continue expanding cooperation with partner countries through technology transfer, capacity building, and long-term collaboration.
